Paddle for the Planet was a movement to create environmental awareness and action among the global paddling community and fraternity. The focus was to engage every paddler worldwide - in every paddling craft - towards conservation of our oceans and waterways.The Paddle for the Planet movement was founded in Dubai in 2010. I was approached to be an athlete ambassador for the organisation. In June of 2011 I led the team that organised the world's first Global Paddling relay, the signature event for Paddle for the Planet. We arranged the Global Paddling Relay annually except in 2020.The official South African NPO was registered in 2013 and I was elected to the Board of Directors.

Building on the foundation set by Series organisers from 2007 my immediate goal was to establish the World Surfski Series as an independent brand that owns the World Surfski Series name and brand; the World Surfski Rankings and the World Series Calender. The position was held pro-bono for the 3 year tenure, Tasks and responsbilities included:- Create a brand and identity including logos and online presence- Build awareness and support amongst athletes and competitors internationally- Engage event organisers with regards event dates and create a realistic and workable international calendar of major events- Improve on the ranking system in place- Set benchmarks in terms of organisation at events including optimal conditions, race routes and prize monies payable- Establish a database of competitors and build support of the World Surfski Series During my 3 years leading the organisation these goals were mostly achieved or set in motion. I stepped down at end of 2016 and handed the reigns back to Rob Mousley, original organiser of the World Series.

Travel and compete in as many local and international paddling events as possible.Assist in pioneering, establishing and promoting a series of international events eventually becoming the World Surfski Series.4 x World Series Champion 2009 - 2012

Create and organise a series of 10 ocean paddling races at Cape Town's premier beach venues.Source, engage and work with all stakeholders from series and event sponsors, relevant council departments, venue management, club committees.Market and advertise the series and each event to the paddler database.Engage and communicate with the paddler database with regards the series and each event.Conceptualise and design each race course with foul weather contingencies.Plan, co-ordinate and execute safety and rescue plans for each event.Activate each event with regards set-up of race course, sponsorship branding, registration area, prize giving venue and area.M.C and race commentator before, during and after each event.
