A dual role, leading the volunteering program and the development and delivery of the strategic plan for visitor centres. This required ensuring exemplary standards of visitor experience, reducing the deficit and ensuring all operations were effectively run. This involved the delivery of improvement projects and leading the team to raise standards in the key areas of visitor experience, including customer service, sales, interpretation, presentation and maintenance in partnership with colleagues across the wider team. A commercial focus was required to achieve future financial sustainability and identify opportunities to maximise the commercial potential of individual locations. Success depended on developing and maintaining key internal and external relationships to influence key stakeholders and partners in support of the overall Kent Wildlife Trust strategy.Owning strategic oversight of the Volunteering team, I lead the development and delivery of the Volunteering strategy. I worked to ensure all volunteer activity enhanced strategic service delivery, expanding the program to support across all operational areas. Core objectives included improving the diversity of the volunteer base, implementation of a new Local Group strategy, raising the quality of the volunteering programme through leadership development as well as routine administration and maintaining our web pages. I carried out consultation work and overhauled the policies and procedures for the entire program, to enable accreditation by Investors in Volunteering.

Stewardship of the historic properties and collections within the South East, through leadership of site teams. A key representative of the National Collections Group within the territory, overseeing and co-ordinating the effective delivery of the strategy, as part of the repositioning of EH as a major national cultural institution. A clear focus on increasing the financial contribution generated through the historic properties element of the national collection, and the all round management of the properties to an exemplary standard. Responsible for: All property management staff working at the staffed properties in the designated area, through the individual Site Managers. This involved the direct line-management of historic properties across the South East; key relationships and partnerships within the territory National Collections Group (NCG) team, including the curators, Property Curator, Maintenance Manager and key Marketing, Events and Retail positions.

Exemplary Customer Service: ensuring staff focus on visitors as the main stakeholder by engaging, educating and hosting visitors to promote understanding and enjoyment of site and the work of English Heritage; Marketing and Public Relations: local spokesperson and representative for site, developing knowledge of site's history, activity and events; Financial Management and Income Generation; Health, Safety and Security.
