It started out in November 2019 as a small group of people reaching out to the poorest communities once every month. Giving out food, supplies, clothes and medical advice to those who can’t afford it.When the pandemic broke, we took it upon themselves to help with relief materials for these same people in impoverished neighborhoods who were already finding it difficult to survive before the pandemic. M. B a/qtr w Over 12million jobs have been lost in the United States as a result of this pandemic, a lot of families can’t afford the basic kit for survival or food to hold themselves up. We did our research and decided to help with what we can, especially in the poorest communities like Wolf Point, Cut Bank, Dillon and Libby. We are focusing on these four communities for now but hope to extend this relief to other poor communities outside MontanaAlso, leading from the fact that we are in practicing physical therapists, we are using our expertise to take some burden off frontline health workers by supplementing public health systems, supplying hygiene kits and supporting the establishment of temporary quarantine facilities.It’s also important to point to the fact that this humanitarian activity has been going on before the COVID pandemic broke. We as physical therapist reach out to the poorest neighborhoods every last Saturday of every month and donate food, supplies and blankets. We also give free medical check ups and advice for those who need it.Since inception in November 2019, the Physical Therapist Relief Group (PTRF) has been able to serve up to 10 rural and under-served communities in Montana and over 20000 beneficiaries especially children between the ages of 0-15years, youths and vulnerable women in the rural communities. We currently have over 30 registered volunteers on our database helping us in our works across Montana and its environs.
