I specialize in breaking young horses and rehabilitating abused and/or problem horses. I use more of a natural horsemanship approach; I do not believe in beating or bullying a horse to get it to do what you want, but I do believe in appropriate discipline for the circumstance. I have trained under Larry Kasten and Sheila Schils at the University of River Falls, Sally Brown and Buck Hazeldine of Fox Meadow Farm, Rolling Oaks Farm, and Susan Stelter of Shasta Stables. I have also adopted training techniques from Ray Hunt, Pat Parelli, Clinton Anderson, Monte Roberts and many others. I believe in continuing my own education. I know I have in no way "arrived" as a person or trainer and understand and embrace that there is always more I can learn. I believe people can and should have horses that are safe and calm in a variety of situations. Maintain 20-25 doctors schedules. Schedule patients into appropriate doctor's schedule. Take incoming phone calls for 7 departments in Primary Care. Take refill requests and message for doctors and send to corresponding nursing pool. Prepare and gather appointment cancellation and reminder letters. Order radiology and laboratory exams. Send referrals to appropriate departments/clinics. Respond to online requests from Online Patient Services. Use multi-line phone system, transfer and conference calls. Train in new employees.

Take prescriptions and orders for Home Medical and Durable Medical Equipment. Know how to use and teach the use of about 5000 medical products including wheelchairs, walkers, commodes, ostomy supplies, diabetic supplies, wound care, respiratory equipment, compression garments, etc. Gather required authorizations and documents to bill insurance for equipment. Assist in ordering and maintenance of inventory.

Broke 2yr olds to ride. Worked with foals, weanlings, yearlings, etc on gound training and handling. Took care of broodmares. Assisted with semen collection and viability verification and artificial insemination. Foaled out mares. Dewormed, Vaccinated, administered medications and first aid as needed. Kept records of all veterinary, farrier and training activity on each horse. General stable chores.

I worked here during 3 summers in college.Barn Manager- In charge of 15-20 horses and 5 employees. Monitor and maintain proper feeding rations per horse, health and farrier visits/records, and appropriate usage/exercise of each horse. Upkeep of barn, arena and pastures. Assign and monitor daily duties of employees.Riding Director- In charge of planning and facilitating all lessons for beginners to advanced riders. Maintained congruency between all instructors. Plan and administer all testing for students to advance to next level. Camp Counselor- Summer "mom" to group of 10-15 preteen(10-12yr old) girls. Get them up and ready for each day and to bed each night. Monitor health (including the diet, blood sugar levels and insulin needs of a camper that was an insulin dependent diabetic). Teach proper table etiquette and manors. Talk about their days and make sure they are doing okay emotionally. Laugh and have fun with them.

I worked at this barn during a summer in college as a paid internship.Assisted with semen collection, artificial insemination and foaling of mares. Worked with foals to 4yr olds on ground training (leading, standing for grooming, veterinarian, and farrier, desensitizing, etc). Took care of stallions and broodmares. In charge of rehabilitating injured horses with stretching and massage techniques. General stable chores.
