"Don't worry about being successful but work towards being significant and success will follow "Oprah Winfrey I am currently a Sophomore at Sussex County Community College . I am pursing an associates degree in Graphic Design and working towards a Digital Art and Illustration Certificate . I was recently inducted into Psi Beta and Phi Theta Kappa honor societies. Last Fall, I took a course entitled "Children's Book Illustration "where I was able to write a story and digitally illustrate scenes in my children's book. I was able to strengthen my digital illustration skills in this course and realize that I would like to pursue a career as a children's book author and illustrator. I am currently working on the completion of the book I created in my course .Upon completion I will sell my book on Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing website. In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family and friends . Over the past 10 years I became involved in an organization called Cure SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). My daughter was born with this rare neuromuscular disease . I have been dedicated to raise funds for research for a cure. I am a co- chair for The North Jersey chapter of Cure SMA and have raised over $10,000 with various fundraising events such a bowl a -thons and bake sales. I am responsible for getting a SMA clinic set up at Morristown Medical Center which will serve the medical needs of pediatric patients in the tristate area. My fundraising efforts enabled Cure SMA to get FDA approval for a drug called Spinraza which has successfully reversed the progression of this disease in pediatric patients.This experience has been life changing and I aspire to become a more active member of the SMA community by creating a support group at our local hospital. I aspire to be the best version of myself by always growing and learning new things . I strive to make a difference in my community and my world .
