Manage all facets of accounting, from payables and receivables through month end and year end. Responsible for human resources, including staffing, job descriptions, compensation, safety management, and training. I work with small business owners on tactical and strategic solutions to improve their business. I generally start with bookkeeping to get a feel for areas that can be improved. I use statistics and common business ratios to show weak areas and use those same statistics to show growth and improvement. I have worked on projects that range from how to take customer phone calls to analyzing project management steps to how product orders are filled. My ultimate goal is to help each individual client increase their overall profitability as well as develop an understanding for strategic planning.

I was charged with creating an inventory system for all physical property at each school site as well as the corporate office. I analyzed state and federal laws regarding proper procedures for funding at each school site. I then created procedures to track attendance and lunch programs so that each site accurately collected federal funds as well as student funds. I was a liaison between each business manager at the school sites and the corporate office to resolve operational issues at the school site. I traveled to school sites to address operational issues that could not be addressed from the corporate office. I also was responsible for organizing and implementing a corporate office move in downtown Boston.

At this custom loudspeaker manufacturer, I analyzed variability in the manufacturing process and all areas around manufacturing to find areas for improvement. Through my work we were able to isolate not only areas that created bottlenecks in the production process and find solutions but also find entire product lines that were selling below manufacturing cost. As the Inventory manager, I created an inventory management system including Bills of Materials and cost accounting to accurately value the inventory and the Cost of Goods Sold value for each finished product. The best part of this job was my working with the employees to help them understand the benefits of process improvement and helping to create a unified workforce.
