County Corporation Counsels advise the County Board, Department Heads and staff on their duties as elected and appointed officials. We also are responsible for overseeing and managing all the civil legal affairs of the County including filing and defending lawsuits on behalf of the County such as zoning violations and collection matters. We draft and negotiate contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and pleadings. We do legal research and write memorandums of law on issues relating to county government.While working as a Government Attorney I was responsible for prosecuting various cases tried to successful rulings and verdicts, including jury trial experience. I am skilled in prosecuting and defending all civil actions, proceedings, applications and motions in any court, commission, board, tribunal or body in Wisconsin. I break down complex legal concepts to help laypersons in understanding legal position and strengths/weaknesses of a position. Also, I delivered strategic prosecution of cases, land use code/municipal ordinance violations, and involuntary mental health commitments. I drafted legal correspondence and resolutions as well as valuable advice to County Board, department heads, staff members, and committees on legal matters. I represented the County in bankruptcy proceedings, updated the record retention schedule, and responded to open record requests.
