Role responsible to provide strategic and operational direction for an integrated system-wide approach for Employee Health and Employee Safety (EHS) that spans the continuum of care. Establishes the strategic plan, assessment framework and direction and provides leadership for effective employee health and safety programs across all subsidiaries. Collaborate with patient safety, safety officers, employee health nurses, workers’ compensation coordinators, infection control practitioners and facilities management to develop strategies to prevent and minimize employee harm. Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring employee safety programs and initiatives in order to minimize hazards and reduce risk of injury for employees. Develop and implement standard corporate policies and procedures for Employee Health and Safety. Collaborate with Workmans Compensation to provide clinical expertise in claims management to reduce insurance-related costs and rehabilitate injured employees. Analyze and investigate employee illness/injury reports and workers’ compensation claims for opportunities to prevent employee illnesses and injuries and develop system strategies to prevent them. Assure the collection, monitoring and reporting of data and health information practices to assure proper custodianship of employee and commercial client health records as well as all required regulatory reporting. Provide administrative direction and organization for all system-wide clients of EHS. Support McLaren’s system wide strategic vision & mission and Employee health and safety initiatives. Partner with Human Resources to develop and implement policy and process that supports employees safe return to work post injury/illness and ADA accommodation. Support subsidiaries in MIOSHA investigation and response. Chair system employee safety committees such as sharp reduction safe patient handling.Best practice resource for physical and psychological fit for duty and reasonable suspicion.

McLaren is a large healthcare system in 3 states. In this position my responsibility includes building a corporate employee health program for healthcare workers and support staff. Focus is standardization of prevention, medical surveillance and injury response for our employees. I have direct reports from each of our subsidiaries and business units. Currently managing the employee health COVID response and exposure management, developing system employee health policy , procedures and standing orders.
