I transferred my Municipal aptitudes from Bridgeport to New Canaan in 2012. The past 4 years in New Canaan I established many policies and procedures, implemented a new Financial System, restructured the Department of Finance, created a financial closing and reporting process, and was named Person of the Year in 2013. I have maintained the Town's Aaa rating with Moody's, and just received the lowest interest rate on our most recent bond sale in the history of the Town.I implemented the Town's first ever Comprehensive Annual Financial Report with the Town's 2014-2015 financials and have submitted our report to the Government Finance Officers Association for their Award of Excellence on Reporting. While the Department of Finance still has a ways to go I believe with the current team in place and under the current administration run by First Selectman Robert E. Mallozzi III, we have the talent, skills, dedication and proficiency to be a flagship to all Finance Departments. My goal for this year is to maintain timely financial reporting with transparency and accuracy while preserving controls on prudent spending for all taxpayer dollars.

Responsibilities include supervision of office personnel, policy management and control, State and Federal grant application and reporting, State Department of Education reporting, monthly financial projections and recommendations, bidding and purchasing, cash management and control, budget preparation management and public support, long range facility planning to meet enrollment needs, student transportation, supervision of school lunch program and supervision of the plant operations and maintenance.

This was the start of my Municipal Finance Career. I was hired as the Deputy Director of Finance / Comptroller in November of 2008 and worked my way to Interim Director of Finance while maintaining my Comptroller responsibilities until April of 2012. While at Bridgeport I implemented a new Financial System for the City called MUNIS. The new Financial System allowed for a great deal of transparency into the finances of the City. I established policy and procedures which helped the Department of Finance gain better efficiencies and timely closes. I maintained through my years with Bridgeport the Government Financial Officer's Award of Excellence in Financial Reporting with the published City's Comprehensive Financial Annual Report in all 3 years. I achieved the lowest % rate for the TANS borrowing in the history of the City. I improved the City's rating with Standards and Poor and maintained both Moody's outlook on the City as well as Fitch during my tenure. I was the first Woman appointed to the position as Interim Director of Finance for the City.
