About Dawn Osborn
I am a Social Prescriber-a role I am passionate about. Finding solutions to issues raised by patients, and enabling them to manage their own issues going forward is a rewarding experience- although sometimes challenging. I continue to look for a role that offers a post that ensures that care is offered from the patient perspective- not a race to the bottom to minimise care provision and maximise profit, but excellence with SOP's geared towards ensuring optimum patient health and therefore saving money in care costs in the longer term.My current role follows a career break as a carer, volunteering as a school governor and as a GCSE/A-level biology tutor alongside studying to obtain a degree. I have studied business and economic modules alongside health studies and leadership modules. I have a varied career path therefore offer a unique set of skills. I enjoyed the research and ultimate reporting (essays/presentations) of studying for a degree as a mature student. I am multitalented whilst open to learning to enhance my next career for the next 25 years. I enjoy roles and experience in clinical audit, research, assessment and organisational, behavioural economics and specifically roles which utilise and extend the skills I have gained. I have also completed part time study for an an Applied Health Economics PGDip. but would like to use this from a patients aspect rather than a pharma/government aspect, ensuring excellent delivery of care within a specified budget.
Listed skills include Excellent Communicator, Motivated, Organised, Proactive, and 19 others.

Social Prescriber
CurrentThis is my dream job- the job I feel I have trained for all my life. Empowering those who are offered unequal access to healthcare, education and social interaction due to any number of issues and circumstances. Problem solving does not always mean the most obvious choice, however supporting those who need to take small steps to achieve a better state of wellbeing and control is something I really enjoy. Health coaching alongside making the right decisions around "what matters to you", and making every contact count is something I can achieve every day at work.
Private Tutor
Looking for a part time role has led me to a segue in my career path. Combining my love of biology (science) and empowerment I am now tutoring GCSE and A-level students on exam technique, revision methods and course specific topics as required. This includes volunteering at a local school to teach small groups (those who cannot afford tutors) in the same tutorial manner- discussion leading to learning and understanding of Biology.
Organisational Manager/Company Secretary
Company Secretary
Operations Manager At Charity Organisation. (Short Term Contract).
This role was an interim part time post during a period of change at the WWCPlus. I gained a broad experience in HR, IT, Payroll organisation and general management. I used my leadership skills to ensure I was enabling change towards efficient, economic service delivery. This empowered staff to do the best job they could do; and ensured staff felt fulfilled and appreciated in a challenging environment. I championed open information sharing, alongside an informed management style accessing current staff skill set, to inform and choose ways forward.
Bsc/Ba (Hons) Economics And Health Studies.
School Governor.
Involved in strategic planning and improvement between governors, leadership team, county and OFSTED. As Chair of Governors I drove forward the delivery of a new classroom utilising the skills of other governors and co-ordinating planning, finances and communication/discussion as necessary.
Caring For Family Member.
My son was diagnosed with CFS and needed my commitment to enable him to study and get well. This support was needed for longer than expected but I learnt that patience and persistence can get the information required to support those with fluctuating ailments. I became expert in navigating not only the health service as a carer, but also the educational provision for those with special requirements. This was an exhausting, but totally rewarding role. It relied on my ability to negotiate, organise, research and communicate effectively in challenging circumstances.
Registered Nurse
Gained RGN qualification and nursed in various roles both within the hospital, elderly care home and district nursing. Agency nursing and cover contract roles enabled me to keep interested and continue to learn and move forward in an ever changing field. I enjoyed the positivity and offer of educational support offered within the private sector. I returned to the NHS to work locally as a bank district nurse until 2006, when I became a carer, expecting to return to nursing within the next year.
Multiple Sclerosis Nurse Advisor And Care Co-Ordinator.
As a Multiple Sclerosis Nurse Advisor I was supporting interferon patients. I maintained a caseload of over 200 patients and co-ordinated care between hospital consultants, GP's and support services such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, district nurses and dieticians. I communicated with and visited meetings for the MS Society and Carers UK to answer questions and to support those in the community who needed information or support. I held clinics in outpatient environment and visited patients and their carers at home. This was a role I excelled at and loved however the contract could no longer be funded by the private sector, and the NHS did not take up the role.
