The role of the Vice President/Controller is to provide senior leadership in financial stewardship and compliance. This role is responsible for supervision of the financial functions of United Way of Weld County. It ensures accountability through guidance, consultation, analysis, interpretation and implementation of the financial activities of United Way of Weld County.Financial oversight functions include ensuring that all generally accepted accounting principles are implemented; supervising and coordinating finance and accounting day to day operations; responsible for implementation of all effective internal accounting controls; ensure that all applicable nonprofit federal and state regulations are followed; ensure that applicable nonprofit federal, state and local tax regulations are followed and filed in a timely fashion; ensure all standards and reporting to United Way Worldwide are implemented, accurate and timely; review transactions recorded in the general ledger by accounting team; lead the monthly close process; post monthly journal entries; manage the annual audit process, including management and coordination of a Single Audit; manage the annual organizational and department budgeting process; management of banking relationships; management and oversight of investment and endowment accounts; oversight of all restricted and unrestricted funding; and report to, communicate and consult with President/CEO and COO on strategy development, progress, and areas of concern.

The UNC Foundation is responsible for gift acceptance, investment and financial management, governance and support of the board of directors, and operational and financial support to the university. The Senior Staff Accountant supports the accounting and financial needs of the organization and provides scholarship management and other operational support to the university. This position reports to the Controller and demonstrates the ability to work and collaborate effectively in a team structure.Accounting responsibilities include managing processes, systems, procedures and controls associated with general and subsidiary accounting ledgers and data management; developing and implementing appropriate accounting and internal control procedures, as needed; coordinating and completing month end and quarter end closing procedures including journal entries and preparation of combined financial reports; assisting in preparation of balance sheet, statement of activities, and other reports to summarize current and projected financial positions; managing accounting records associated with donor pledges; managing the endowment database including distributions, investment earnings (loss), and management fees; providing support with development of required reports for the board of directors and committees; and providing support with development of required reports and information for purposes of audit and tax preparation.Responsibilities related to university support include ensuring scholarship funds are utilized according to donor intent; ensuring that the duties related to the management of the university's scholarship management system are carried out; and, responding to inquiries, research, and information requests from university staff.
