During 2021-2023 Dawn was the Joint Centre for Excellence in Environmental Intelligence (JCEEI) Centre Manager. The JCEEI undertakes cutting-edge research and innovative, interdisciplinary education and training. It brings together exciting new science and environmental knowledge with data science and artificial intelligence. Together world-leading researchers from the University and the Met Office are spearheading the development of Environmental Intelligence and promoting the UK as a global trailblazer in this fast-growing field. During 2017-2023 Dawn was the Programme Manager for the highly successful and award winning South West Partnership for Environment and Economic Prosperity (SWEEP). SWEEP was a six-year impact programme funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) which applied environmental research to bring natural capital into the heart of decision making, to benefit the environment, society and economy. It was an exemplar of best practice in the South West of the UK. See www.sweep.ac.uk.

2016 – 2017: Senior Impact and Partnership Development ManagerSenior role within the Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) Directorate, as Business Partner for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences, and water theme lead. Including leading IIB contribution to the College planning process, such as scoping, and assessment of strategic opportunities associated with industry and government funding. Coordination and support for the development of college Research Excellence Framework impact case studies, leading and authoring various large‐scale proposals.2015 – 2016: Business Development Manager, Team LeadResponsibility for a team of five business development managers and officers within the IIB Directorate, tasked with taking forwards projects and partnerships to deliver impact and significant outcomes for academics, colleges and the University as a whole.2013 – 2015: Research Development Manager, Environment & Climate ChangeResponsibility for a team of research development mangers, supporting NERC‐facing activities, and strategic partnerships with the Met Office and Plymouth Marine Laboratory. Independent lead for the development of one of the key strands of the University’s new research and impact strategy at that time, managing academic consultation and engagement, and leading an informal professional services group. Supporting the development of other strategic initiatives and business cases, involving extensive business development, partner engagement, internal (academic, senior management, college and other professional services) and external stakeholder management.2007 – 2013: Research & Knowledge Transfer ManagerResponsibility for the University's contract research portfolio and general business development and engagement activities. Setting up and managing a service to deliver a growing portfolio of contact research, including the setting up of new systems according to ISO 9001 standards. Significant bid development and partner engagement.

NERC‐funded post‐doctoral position investigating the ‘Osmoregulation in non‐indigenous fish species ‐potential for invasion via estuaries’, including authoring 4 peer‐reviewed publications.

Based within the Physical Geography research group, providing technical support to various research groups, laboratory facilities and fieldwork activities.
