Dawn Smith is a Manager Governance and Reporting, Climate and Environment at City of Calgary. Dawn has had a very busy year after returning from maternity leave, with developing the Water Conservation Efficiency and Productivity Plan (& FCM award submission), the Waste Management Plan and the larger than life Visioning Project. She also helped tackle the Sustainability section of the newly launched Okotoks.ca website. Dawn’s efforts with the Water Conservation Efficiency and Productivity Plan helped us to stand out and win a FCM 2015 Sustainable Communities Award. This prestigious award validates our work in water conservation, efficiency and productivity programs. The Town of Okotoks has a new vision to guide future growth and development. Dawn has worked tirelessly with limited in-house resources to assist with the Okotoks Community Visioning 2014, the Town-wide visioning process to define a clear vision for what the Town will look like, and how the Town will get there. Dawn is reliable, creative and efficient. She is a highly organized individual with a unique approach at conceptualizing her skills. Dawn fulfills her assigned tasks to the highest contentment. I have had the pleasure of watching Dawn develop her business centre from its infancy to what it is today, while leaving a legacy and a footprint for us to follow. I always feel there is a passion in what Dawn is doing and you can see that she wants her work to add up to something important. With a small child at home, Dawn is tackling a Master’s Degree and that is telling of her dedication and commitment to her career at the Town of Okotoks. "
