- Lead a specialist function managing a portfolio of medical cases being assessed for entitlement of pension and injury benefits ensuring compliance with pension legislation and relevant case law. Working across Police Pension legislation, injury benefit regulations and Local Government Pension Scheme. - Providing leadership and guidance to the adviser role to develop their capability and technical knowledge.- Keeping abreast of the changing pensions landscape. Processing and management of pension awards with a medical aspect. Including police injury awards, deferred pension applications, ill health retirements and eligibility to join the pension scheme.Working in accordance with regulatory frameworks for both police pension regulations and local government pension schemes.

Manage multiskilled teams within Business Support including the provision of service to members of the public at the front counter within Police stations across Newcastle and enquiry support to Police Officers. An internal administrative support service to Police Officers covering financial and HR transactions.

• Oversee the management and running of the HQ Kennel Complex, ensuring the provision of a suitable environment for the Police dogs to be boarded as well as maintaining high level of hygiene and welfare maximising the operational availability of Northumbria Police’s dog establishment. • Provide advice around managing attendance cases and co-ordinate attendance management information.• Manage recruitment processes for the Command as well as writing adverts and interviewing for vacancies within my own teams. • Implement and monitor HR practices and procedures within the Command ensuring compliance around Health & Safety and working regulations• Co-ordinate the provision of Business Support Services, ensuring a high quality service is provided to aid Senior Management decision making and the operational activities of Operations Command.• Develop and implement improvements to working practices, through performance monitoring and reviewing of systems to maximise the potential of teams and individuals.
