I teach juggling - literally. Surprising to many that know me because I was never a kid that dreamed of running away to join the circus. Quite the opposite, actually. Imagine that over-prepared, detail-oriented person that always loved school and finds learning fun. Yep, that's me. How did I end up helping to start and grow Energizing Events and Flow Circus, companies that offer team building workshops and keynotes all centered around juggling and skill toys? My own struggle to learn this skill (and boy, did I struggle for awhile!) showed me the power of experiential learning and reflection to shift mindset, build self-awareness, and enhance well-being. Educator: An educator at heart, I believe learning should be challenging, but at the same time can be fun. Sometime around middle school, learning for many becomes "work" and disconnected from the excitement that comes from a new insight or mastery of a skill. Unfortunately, this can create a climate of avoidance, apathy, and stress that continues into the workplace. By introducing fun, new, and challenging skills, we flip that mindset by pushing people outside of their comfort zone and showing them the upside of dropping.Curator: Books about positive psychology, neuroscience, business, well-being, and various other topics currently threaten to topple my shelves. Through our blog and social media, I share this research to serve as a resource for team managers, conference planners, and educators that want to introduce or reinforce these ideas with the groups they lead. Facilitator: Whether you're an event planner hiring us to kick-off a conference or the individual whose manager decided that your team needs to juggle despite your seeming lack of coordination, my primary goal for our interaction is to put you at ease and make it a positive, successful experience for all involved. The work we do challenges me to develop efficient systems and design engaging programs to meet the needs of a diverse range of events and groups.
