I am responsible for developing and delivering diversity-related programs and activities in the College of Business Administration at Kansas State University. Those duties include:- Recruiting and retaining students from under-represented groups.- Developing programs to enhance the academic and professional success of our students.- Creating curriculum and learning opportunities related to developing multicultural competencies.- Assisting with faculty and staff recruitment and retention to enhance the diversity of our college.- Identify, developing and maintaining corporate partnerships, and particularly those focused on diversity and inclusion.- Writing and implementing grant opportunities related to diversity.- Supporting our diverse students through advising, assisting with financial aid issues, work on academic problems, career planning, job placement and a variety of other needs.- Acting as co-director for the Project IMPACT Summer Bridge Program, a 6 week, multi-disciplinary bridge program for multicultural students in the colleges of Business, Agriculture and Engineering.- Providing advice and support for the Multicultural Business Student Association.- Serving on the President's Commission on Multicultural Affairs and acting as a the Diversity Point Person for our college.- Researching and publishing in areas related to diversity and my faculty position in marketing.- Teaching marketing courses.

My responsibilities included teaching Industrial Marketing (now B2B Marketing) and Sales Management, as well as a number of MBA and PhD level courses. I also taught in the Executive Development Program held in Jasper, Alberta every April.

As Director of the Small Business Development Center at the University of Colorado, I had to re-establish the Center after a split from the Colorado Spring Chamber of Commerce. To do this, I used a number of different techniques to get the word out that we were open for business:- Developed relationships with the other Chambers of Commerce (e.g., The Black Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Women's Chamber of Commerce). Spoke at many of their meetings about the Center and our services, as well as small business issues.- Established an Advisory Board with connections in the community.- Developed and deployed a variety of training programs for both start-up and existing businesses.- Partnered with other organizations serving similar communities, like the high tech community.
