I have over twelve years of experience leading scientific operations for high profile research programs at the National Institutes of Mental Health and The Scripps Research Institute. At both institutes, I directed large budgets and day-to-day operations including oversight of administrative departments, core facilities, facilities management, compliance, and administrative workforce. The ultimate goal of both positions was to enable the faculty to perform outstanding research and train the next generation of scientists by best utilizing available resources including space, equipment, talent, and budget. Scientific Operations is a lot like herding cats but supporting outstanding science is incredibly humbling and rewarding. I am currently exploring new opportunities in the life sciences.

Senior Director For Florida OperationsThe Scripps Research Institute May 2012 - Jun 2015Jupiter, FloridaI was the senior administrative official on the Florida campus of the Scripps Research Institute, one of the largest independent biomedical research institutes in the world. The outstanding science portfolio on the Scripps Florida campus included cancer biology, aging and metabolism, infectious diseases, molecular therapeutics, chemistry and neuroscience, with a strong emphasis on drug development. My primary responsibility was to enable the scientists to perform outstanding research by managing campus resources and serving as a liaison between the two campuses. I was privileged to lead a dynamic team of administrative managers and directors in Space and Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, Information Technology, Education Outreach, Human Resources and Procurement. I supervised all core facilities and maintained cutting edge technologies and talent in Genetics, NMR, Crystallography, Behavior, Metabolism, Proteomics, Histology and Flow Cytometry. Externally, I advocated for Scripps' interests with local business leaders and legislators by participating on the Economic Council of Palm Beach County and the North Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce and state-wide through BioFlorida and the Florida Research Consortium, as well as various focus groups. The size of the faculty and administrative staff doubled during my tenure, fulfilling strategic recruitment goals. -
Associate Director For Science ManagementNational Institute Of Mental Health 2002 - 2012National Institute Of Mental Health, NihI was promoted through ranks of increasing responsibility as an integral member of the dynamic management team in the Office of the Scientific Director of the National Institutes of Mental Health Intramural Research Program, a large multidisciplinary neuroscience research program located on the beautiful NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. NIMH's exciting research portfolio included cell and molecular biology, cognitive neuroscience, systems neuroscience, behavior, imaging, and neuropsychiatric clinical trials. The unique facilities and resources at the NIH allowed our scientists to make discoveries that could not be made anywhere else. My responsibilities included strategic planning, scientific review, space and resource management, communications, science writing, core facility management, and ethics. One significant accomplishment during my tenure included representing the NIMH on a large scale construction project for the Porter Neuroscience Building, which was designed to bring together the neuroscience work across campus and institutes under one roof for enhanced collaboration and resource sharing.
