Through training in the fine and industrial arts, The Crucible promotes creative expression, reuse of materials, and innovative design, while serving as an accessible arts venue for the general public in the Bay Area. Known for one-of-a-kind industrial arts education programs, The Crucible is also highly regarded for its innovative performances.

Friends of Bella Vista Park is a volunteer based community group that spearheaded a $1.7 million park renovation in the upper San Antonio neighborhood of Oakland, California. Community partnerships and stewardship efforts continue, with fundraising, youth recreation programming, and 10 special events yearly. Nonprofit organization formed by Berkeley residents in 1976 to preserve a stretch of Codornices Creek as open space. With annual membership donations, the land has been cleared of brush and blackberries, the creek cleaned, trees and indigenous plants added, a setback created and a path formed along Shasta Road. Members continue to steward the preservation of this open space for the enjoyment of the surrounding community. ­­­­
