Combining a degree in business management with five years of public accounting and a deep curiosity for technology creates natural strengths for financial system implementation and optimization. My focus over the last ten years is system integrations, optimizing technology, and maximizing the efficiency of resources. When you understand data structure, software just becomes a dialect within a common language.Recently I’ve become excited by remote workforce trends. As we build organizations using cloud-technology, there is no reason to limit the talent pool to a commutable distance. I love finding the right person for the role and building the best team possible. Integrating the right technology is a crucial enabling element in this disruption equation. I began my career in New Zealand, using IFRS as my first accounting language. Opportunities took me to the Turks & Caicos, where I practiced the purest form of management accounting (now in GAAP) because there was no regulatory financial reporting: The focus of information we generated was designed exclusively to enable the best business decisions. That first-hand experience of the power of good information changed the way I thought about data vs. information and how to empower strategic thinking among decision-makers. This perspective shift fed my curiosity when I returned to the US to find organizations enmired with administrative inertia due to obligatory accounting drag. Over the last ten years, I have been fortunate to work with several not-for-profit organizations in both a leadership and project capacity. Working with passionate leaders reinforces the need for optimizing administrative functions to remain focused on the mission.My most significant measure of success is the depth of partnership built with business leadership.
