Conservation management of Eagles Island, a 2,100 acre estuarine island located at the confluence of the Cape Fear River and the Northeast Cape Fear River in southeastern NC.

Serve as Environmental Project Manager for several large-scale shoreline protection projects on the southeast coast of NC. I co-author and review Environmental Impact Assessments and NEPA documentation, such as Biological Assessments, Essential Fish Habitat Assessments and Cumulative Effects Assessments. I conduct shorebird and colonial waterbird surveys, monitoring of coastal habitats including biological analyses such as habitat characterization studies, water quality, sedimentation rate and benthic infauna sampling for impact assessments. Assist in the development of monitoring and mitigation plans. Administrative duties include development of proposals, review of project budgets, and delegation of tasks and collaboration with other biologists. Also responsible for organizing project tasks and developing project schedules. Regularly attend interagency meetings in which research are presented. I have also implemented marketing and development of relations with governmental agencies.

Principal areas of expertise were concentrated in natural resource inventories, wetland evaluations, protected species surveys and monitoring, and hydrological and vegetative monitoring of wetland mitigation areas as required by 404 and 401 permits. Administrative duties required simultaneous management of numerous large and small projects, interfacing with clients and public agency personnel, data evaluation and preparation, writing and editing of project reports, and literature reviews. Versant with the requirements for the preparation of NEPA and SEPA documents and associated permit application and compliance for activities which affect Section 404 jurisdictional areas. Facilitated diverse aspects of the company’s overall function and performance, from proposal writing to physically demanding field work to advising biologists on procedural aspects of projects.
