I am the Operations Staff Officer for the Wayne National Forest, located in southeast Ohio. Prior to my current role, I served as Athens District Recreation Team Leader, Partnership and Community Engagement Specialist, and then Public Affairs Officer for the Wayne National Forest. I served as the Forest Service project lead for the Baileys Trail System from 2016 to 2021 and continue to serve in an advisory role. In my current role, I work with an outdoor recreation collaborative to develop an outdoor recreation plan for Southeast Ohio, I represent the Wayne National Forest on the Ohio Interagency Forestry Team with a focus on improving oak regeneration efforts across Southeast Ohio, and hope to begin conversations to develop a collaborative around watershed management, particularly to reclaim Abandoned Mine Lands and plug orphan oil and gas wells. With a background in both forest ecology and outdoor recreation management, I seek strategic solutions to sustainably operate and manage National Forest System lands with partners at the landscape level. My greatest strengths include problem solving, strategic thinking, and working collaboratively with others. I have both the educational background required for managing natural resources and the experience required for managing operations at the Forest level. I received my B.S. in Biology from Fairmont State University in 2001 and my Ph.D. in Forest Ecology in 2008. I successfully completed the USDA Forest Service National Middle Leader Program (NMLP) in 2013, I have training and experience with Leaders as Convenors/Art of Hosting, and have completed both Managing By Networks and Collaborative Conservation: Partnerships in Practice classes provided by the Partnership and Community Collaboration Academy.
