The unsolicited communications branch of the ACMA handles email & SMS spam reports from multiple sources. In order to do so they rely on the Spam Intelligence Database (SID). SID was built by a dedicated team for the purpose of classifying, indexing and storing of spam reports. The SID team provide technical expertise for a number of stakeholders and helps provide advice to the Australian public on cybersecurity threats.In 2016 the SID2 project began and saw the redevelopment of SID to not only update its core abilities and components but to also remake it to take full advantage of a new cloud environment on Amazon Web Services (AWS). SID2 was delivered at the end of August 2017 and continues to be enhanced by this same team.The SID team also previously built and maintained the Australian Internet Security Initiative (AISI) system, a voluntary program providing information on malware infections on Australian networks for ISPs for them to identify and help their customers. On July 1st 2017 the AISI project was migrated to CERT Australia. More on the AISI can be found at https://www.cert.gov.au/aisi* Oversaw the SID2 rebuild project with a small team to use new technology and transform it to a cloud hosted operation on AWS.* Provided technical advice and direct help in the migration of the AISI to CERT Australia.Acted as a technical resource for multiple procurement processes that require specialist knowledge.* Designed and built the AISI Portal (https://portal.aisi.gov.au/) to allow AISI participants to securely and easily search incident data for their users. The AISI portal also allows them to export their data and download regular daily reports.* Supported ACMA staff in understanding spam, phishing and malware methods help their direct work* Provided feedback to ISPs and consumers on cybersecurity issues detected by the AISI* Analysed phishing, malware and general spam for patterns and unusual behaviour to assist stakeholders
