My name is Dawson French, and I am a level 1 Electrical Apprentice studying at Camosun College. I want to enhance my experience in the Electrical trade as well as further my education.I have been playing on a AAA College Prep baseball team for the past 2 years. Playing at a high level has taught me how to perform under pressure, teamwork and time management. These traits are good for an electrician because it shows I can work with other people fluidly. This also shows that I can get jobs done because manage my time properly. When a job needs to get done, I know how to react under pressure therefore nothing will look as if it was rushed. Over the past two years I have volunteered for 8 different kids baseball camps run completely by the players on our team. This has taught me how to be organized and how to be a leader. I believe that my experience volunteer has prepared me to be organized on the job-site and to have great multi-tasking abilities. Being a leader is a necessary trait for anyone to possess because if you want more responsibility in a career that most likely means leading others. I have received my first aid certificate, and during the process of obtaining the certificate, I learned how to think critically and make the best choice to solve the problem. These traits are good for an electrical job because you need to know how to solve problems that arise on the job site. If someone is injured on the job site, you will need someone there that has been trained in first aid to make the right decisions until proper aid is there for them. I hope to strive forward with my journey in the electrical trade and to expand on my skills and add new ones to make myself a better electrician but also make myself a better person. I plan to receive my red seal certificate at BCIT.
