As an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT), I have had the privilege of helping to facilitate English language acquisition in the Japanese public school system. As a civil servant, I am tasked with fostering cross-cultural understanding and enforcing lasting intercultural ties between Japan and the United States.The role requires a high degree of adaptability, adjusting to suit different teaching styles, school policies, and curriculum requirements to meet the diverse needs of students and educational institutions in addition to respecting cultural traditions and sensitivities that often vary greatly from that of my home country. To consistently improve as an educator, I must also actively seek opportunities for professional growth and improvement and strive to enhance my own command of both the English and Japanese languages to better assist students in developing their language proficiency.My experience as an ALT has enriched my understanding of effective teaching methods, cross-cultural communication, and the impact of language education on personal and professional development. I am passionate about contributing to the growth and success of students in their language learning journey.

As the District Director Kansas City Public School District, I was tasked with overseeing students and managing staff, leading special projects, tracking spending, and monitoring supply/staffing budgets with supervisors. Additionally, I was involved in the hiring and scheduling process for other staff members, Developing and overseeing the educational content made available to staff members, including creating suitable curriculum and training materials, and communicating with parents, teachers, and administrators.As a grant project, the program underwent significant changes resulting in my resignation. However, the brief period serving in the role provided me with a great deal of professional development in a key educational leadership role.
