Starting within the tangible gears of my family’s waste hauling operation in Paso Robles, California, my career has been a unique fusion of grassroots industry knowledge and high-tech innovation. From early days as a welder and driver to becoming Operations Manager, I gained invaluable insights into the operational challenges and technological deficits in the solid waste industry. This firsthand exposure propelled me to pivot towards technology, seeking to develop the software solutions the industry was sorely missing.At CORE, I led the creation of the eMobile Android app and its C# API integration with EnCORE, revolutionizing route management for waste hauling operations. This initiative not only enhanced operational efficiency but also opened up previously untapped revenue streams. Our adoption of Android devices in solid waste collection trucks marked a pioneering move towards modernizing industry hardware standards.The journey took a significant turn in 2020 when CORE was acquired by Routeware, a multinational leader in software solutions for the solid waste industry. This transition from a small tech company to a key player in a global enterprise marked the beginning of an exhilarating chapter of growth and leadership. At Routeware, I've ascended through various engineering leadership roles, culminating in my current position as VP of Product Engineering. Reporting directly to the CTO, I'm at the helm of steering product engineering during a pivotal high-growth phase.In my current role, I’m passionately coaching engineering managers and spearheading initiatives to drive modern yet pragmatic solutions. I'm deeply involved in evolving our system architecture to meet and exceed industry demands while also strategically expanding our engineering team into nearshore locations in Mexico and Colombia. My commitment to leveraging technology for operational excellence continues to be the guiding star of my career, as I navigate the challenges and opportunities of scaling innovative solutions in the solid waste industry.
