I am a recent biomedical science graduate from AUT and I have great interest in the use of natural compounds within the pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical industries. Throughout my academic journey, I participated and engaged in different papers and projects that have explored different fields. Some examples of these are cancer biology, chemistry for drug discovery, biotechnology, industrial microbiology, and quantitative analysis. In my final year, I was immersed in a research project titled 'The Role of Inulin on the Gut Microbiota Composition', which aimed to determine whether inulin, a prebiotic, would have the capacity to support the growth of a probiotic without enhancing the growth of pathobionts associated with atopic dermatitis, in a simulated gut bacterial community. Additionally, I also completed a smaller project in my 3rd year that investigated the 'Differences in Chemical Composition between High and Low Molecular Weight Fucoidan from the Sporophyll of Undaria pinnatifida', which provided me with valuable hands-on experience in the field of chemistry. I am committed to solidifying my knowledge and acquiring new skills to make a meaningful impact in the field of biomedical science.
