Postdoctoral Associate
Conducted two parallel studies: 1) investigating the protein machinery regulating AMPA-receptor endocytosis in neurons using a proteomics based screen. 2) charaterization of a novel structural form of the protein Arc, which is required for AMPA-receptor trafficking and memory encoding.
Student Researcher
Conducted a genome-wide RNAi screen to identify genetic modulators of ALS. This screen revealed a previously uncharacterized interaction between SOD1 and TDP43, two proteins implicated in the pathogenesis of ALS that were previously thought to be mutually exclusive. I also showed that activity of the TrkB neurotrophin receptor could be used to modulate expression of SOD1 in a cell model of ALS.
