Donald Day is the COO of VDX, a digital asset trading platform focussing on the institutional financial services market and building a bridge between traditional finance and digital assets. VDX is currently applying for a VATP license in Hong Kong; its clients include broker/dealers, asset managers, insurance companies and banks.As COO Mr. Day is directly responsible for the license application and interaction with the regulator, helping shape and executing the business strategy, maintaining key vendor, partnership and client relationships, and building a strong team to successfully operate the platform.Mr. Day was appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he teaches a course on FinTech and RegTech topics.Mr. Day is co-founder of CFAAR, a not-for-profit organization providing education and guidance to legal professionals and the wider market for cases of crypto fraud and related asset recovery.Previously Mr. Day was the Subject Matter Expert for Digital Assets, including crypto currencies, at the Securities and Futures Commission, the leading regulator in Hong Kong. He helped create the regulatory framework, terms and conditions and guidelines for virtual asset fund managers and trading platforms in Hong Kong, and designed and lead the supervision for both virtual asset fund managers and trading platforms.Prior to joining the Hong Kong regulator, Mr. Day co-founded Bletchley Park Asset Management, one of the first institutional grade cryptocurrency Hedge Funds, as Partner and CTO. He set up the overall organization, including trading platform connectivity and crypto custody and treasury, and opened offices in Hong Kong and Jersey. He led systematic portfolio management and automated arbitrage.Previously Mr. Day held leadership roles in the Finance Industry, including COO of Qantex, a pan-Asian OTC derivatives brokerage; Head of Technology at Segantii, a multi-strategy Hedge Fund; and Quantitative Strategist and Trader at Deutsche Bank. While working as a Manager in the Capital Markets practice of Accenture he designed world-class trading systems for global exchanges in Europe and APAC.Throughout his tenure in Europe and Asia, Mr. Day has successfully built and run operating businesses, lead cross funactionl platform transformation and managed multi-cultural cross-departmental teams. He has built a reputation for on-time and in-budget high-quality delivery.He holds an MBA (Finance) from London Business School and a Master in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) from LMU University Munich.
