Coordinate activities relating to economic development: monitor, plan and prepare activities relating to property acquisition, environmental assessment and remediation, demolition, land sale, business development agreements, design guidelines, public relations, RFPs, final approvals and grant writing.Provide staff support to Verona Economic Development Commission: organize meetings, complete reports; and act as a liaison between the City of Verona and the Verona Economic Development Commission.Provide information and assistance to community organizations, including the Verona Area Chamber of Commerce, downtown business organizations, and property developers.Develop projects and programs that will enhance the City of Verona as a top location for residential, commercial and industrial development.Use targeted marketing to generate business activity/development in-fill vacant commercial and industrial properties. Manage social media tools, update city website, and write press releases.Establish business retention initiatives and meet with current employers, while also assisting with business attraction, marketing, incentive preparation and management of loan programs.Assist with Tax Incremental District (TID) administration, development, and developer agreements.Work with small businesses to develop marketing plans and business plans.Research, prepare, submit, administer and follow grant opportunities and reporting requirements in consultation with the city administrator. Track and submit appropriate reports in a timely manner to state, federal or other agencies as required.

Verify tax increment finance agreement compliance, market and promote the City of Janesville to attract potential employers, update economic development website with news and current data, assist downtown organizations in achieving our collective vision and goals for downtown Janesville, collaborate with the Janesville Convention and Visitors Burea and Forward Janesville to assist area businesses during I 39-90 reconstruction.

Primary Duties/Essential Job Functions: Assist the Center in conducting applied research, delivering information resources and coordinating educational programs related to downtown and business district economic development. Specific functions include:o Help communities conduct market analyseso Assist in the delivery of webinar programso Participate in other educational programs such as “Small Town Downtown Forums”o Assist in applied research to help communities explore economic development opportunities Other specific assignments will be determined as a part of the Center’s annual planning activities, and may also include some or all of the following:o Collaborate with other CCED specialists, Extension faculty and researchers, government officials, and business leaders to identify and respond to key information and research needs that will expand the information and knowledge base in support of economic and workforce development o Collaborate with Extension and campus-based specialists to develop educational programs to be delivered through and with county-based Extension colleagues Collect, develop, synthesize, analyze, and distribute up-to-date information on economic and policy issues relevant to the local and regional economy

Assist in project research, writing, and communication with county educators, Main Street directors, Business Improvement District Directors, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, and business owners and building operators throughout the state of Wisconsin.
