The Parallel Effect

Creative Instigator And Senior ProducerThe Parallel Effect May 2019 - PresentThe Parallel Effect works with a collective of interdisciplinary artists, scholars and technology specialists who pool their talents and ideas to explore intersectional themes of Climate Change by reimagining multiple plausible alternatives to the “present” we’re living. These alternate realities are designed to transport audiences to a space beyond the normative paradigms of our world where they can contemplate alternative pasts and futures, reclaim and interrogate the histories and realities of today, and imagine possibilities for informed and sustainable interventions in the future.Drawing on the extensive archival and transdisciplinary research we've conducted into certain patterns, anomalies and histories occurring in our dimension, writers use this data to build their own alternate timelines set in parallel worlds. This is a unique and different slant on the incredibly fashionable technique of "futuring". Instead of using where we are today and extrapolating forward, our parallel reality speculation stems from critical moments in our past and then imagines how things might have been different. This process opens our minds to an even greater range of unexpected and inspiring “futuring” possibilities. The Parallel Effect is committed to reaching across borders (disciplinary, practice, modal and geographical) to engage in holistic and intersectional conversations that empower and spark debate on local and global issues of our times. -

We make stuff fly: film, video, podcasts, installations, interactive platforms and live and immersive events. No project is too ambitious. We’re inspired by innovative concepts which challenge preconceived ideas, forge points of connection between unlikely parties and flirt wildly with the surreal or unexpected.Material that promotes radical thinking, nourishes imagination and innovation, and attracts meaningful, social engagement is also high on our hit-list. -
Creative Director And Filmmaker: [Producer / Director / Videographer]Various Films (Documentary / Drama / Music / Corporate / Educational & Artistic Installations) 2010 - PresentWherever The Cool Projects LiveDaz Chandler is an award-winning filmmaker & multimedia artist with great hands who loves karaoke and hyphenating words. Surprisingly, she is not yet a rock-star or, hand-model. She is however extremely passionate about her work as an interdisciplinary storyteller which traverses words, performance, sound, video and digital. After studying film, Daz started her career in advertising & public relations where she prepared fancy blurb & creative for high-profile, international clients. Wanting to develop her muscle as a writer & broadcaster, she left the industry to focus on the community & public media sectors where she presented breakfast, drive, arts magazine and current affairs programming on 2SER-FM and served as a representative on the board of both the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia and Sydney's Radio-2SER 107.3FM.She has presented and produced radio, television and AIMIA award winning multi-platform projects for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, worked across print & digital as an arts, op-ed and travel writer, and curated artistic events in Sydney and Newcastle. In late 2008, inspired by the democratisation of media & rise of independent journalism, she left Australia to establish 'Radio Lajee', an English-language media project for youth living inside refugee camps in the Palestinian Territories. While she was there, she produced several screen based projects including the award-winning 'Shireen of al-Walaja' and 'Amand(l)a' (in post production). In May 2018, Daz was one of five storytellers to perform at London's Union Chapel as part of The Moth's prestigious main-stage event. Based on the success of that, she is currently compiling a collection of true stories about life on roads less traveled as a woman, maverick media-maker.Daz’s main interest lies in work that challenges preconceived sociocultural & political notions & ideas, & creates instances of social engagement, or points of connection between unlikely parties.
