Freelance writer, specialising in film and music, often a combination of the two.My first work appeared in the seminal underground music fanzine, "Here Be Monsters", for whom I wrote for ten years, contributing reviews, articles and interviews. More recent work has appeared on the Strangethingsarehappening.com and Horrorpedia.com websites, as well as numerous books and magazines in print, whilst I continue work on an ambitious project to write an entire history of the use of music and sound in horror film. I am currently music editor at The Reprobate magazine.Gods and Monsters was founded by myself, primarily to release unusual and long-lost musical recordings, though this has already expanded to include toys, games and multi-media projects. I am responsible for all aspects of running the business, from marketing to design to sales, as well as ensuring all projects remain profitable whilst delivering above and beyond customer expectations in terms of both quality and customer service.Our first releases, two volumes of Lurid Trumps cards sold out with days of release and are now fetching many times the original value on auction websites. The follow up Lucio Fulci cards have received press coverage around the world and have resulted in an already loyal customer base and the opportunity to expand into different markets. Further releases have included themed snow globes, housewares and collectibles, all of which continue to sell both online and at fairs and conventions.

Vue Cambridge is an 8-screen multiplex operating on three levels in a busy city centre location. With over 1700 seats, a management team below me and up to 50 staff, my role was to drive admissions through local marketing initiatives and work closely with representatives from film distributors, scheduling film times to ensure maximum operational benefit as well as ensuring the business was profitable throughout the day.I was responsible for staff training on a local level and the induction of new managers on a regional level, whilst also ensuring the recruitment process and up-keep of staff files was compliant to company and legal standards. Other duties included all aspects of stock management, the upkeep of health and safety paperwork and driving sales.I oversaw the installation of two 3D screens, VIP seating areas in all 8 screens and the smooth transition from 35mm film to the cinema becoming fully digital, managing both the physical aspect and the training of staff. During my time at Vue, the cinema achieved its highest ever ratings in the company's internal audit of the business, ensured the cinema remained profitable and developed many new local business partnerships from scratch with no marketing budget.

Virgin Megastore in Cambridge was a high-achieving store with a large catchment area and multiple competitors in a city centre location. In my tenure as general manager, myself and my team turned the store from a loss-making Megastore into a business which operated at 8% above its budget of £3.5 million per year. This was achieved through excellent staff recruitment and training, tight control of the store's 20,000+ item inventory (achieving .07% shrinkage versus company expectation of 1%) and close attention to all aspects of the store's P&L.Through staff training and in-house standards, we achieved 90%+ on mystery shopper visits, placing us in the top ten stores in the country. Through management of payroll costs, ODC's and driving sales, we achieved EBITDA for each year from 2000.
