Linda Patterson started designing gift baskets out of her living room in 1992. Employed full time with the City of Los Angeles, Linda began assembling gift baskets during the Christmas holidays.Her first gift basket order was a referral to a well known law firm; Albright, Yee & Schmit. With 12 orders in hand Patterson thought she was on her way to blissful success...but without a merchant account to accept credit cards, no advertising budget; and not prepard to offer Net 30 to Corporate accounts, orders were slow coming in.Patterson began setting up on Crenshaw Boulevard as a street vendor to sell her gift baskets during the holidays; with Valentine, Easter and Mother's Day becoming her number one gift basket selling events. A year later, Patterson quit her job at the 'City' and became a full time gift basket designer and self employed.Slowly adding additonal selling items such as balloons and flowers to her gift basket line. Patterson attended an Entrepreneur workshop called 'CWED' who became a client of Patterson's; she begin to provide floral table centerpieces for their seminar/conference luncheons, and provided catering services for them as well.Patterson had an eye for color, was creative and a natural at decor. While attending John Bryants 'Operation Hope' Entrepreneur Workshop, she expressed to Tim Lester, then Executive Director of GLAAACC that she was interested in expanding her gift and floral business into event decorating. Lester introduced Patterson to Wendy Gladney, President & CEO of PSP and Forgiving For Living, the event manager on the Rodeo/LaBrea Albertson's Grocery Grand Opening. Patterson and Gladney met, Linda was hired to decorate the Albertson's Grand Opening, she was introduced to another business woman whom Patterson had long admired; Pat Means of Turning Point Communications. Today, the name is Dazzle & Design and GLAAACC has become one of Patterson's largest corporate accounts!
