Communication is my passion -- both in the data networking and marketing sense. After spending over a decade architecting large-scale IP WAN and MPLS deployments and integrating complex network security controls, my focus converged with the industry to explore security in virtualization and enterprise computing architectures. At Cisco, this journey has now evolved to focusing on security of carrier network infrastructure and operations.My goal is to leverage a deep technical understanding of new, cutting-edge architectures and technologies to understand how they can be used to solve real business problems. On the vendor side, I've found that working closely with customers to understand their technical needs and pain points is the best way to help guide a good product into a truly great one. I'm also passionate about visual communication and graphic design. Product marketing and messaging involves not only effectively communicating a solution, but explaining complex topics is usually best done visually -- across language boundaries. A great message starts with a great visual, and the search for the perfect visual message for complex technologies and solutions drives me every day. Understanding the technology is critical, but only the first step. The real challenge is in helping customers understanding why and how it can solve their real-world problems.
