I was one of 2 Enterprise Architects for the company. My specific area of focus was the Microsoft technology stack, including Server and Data Platform. I worked closely with engineering and operations teams to design and solidify architecture standards and best practices. I also work with the SQL Server team to help them design, plan and implement enhancements to their environment, including a 12.5PB data replication process in support of a major global datacenter consolidation project. I also provided key technical leadership for technology stack reviews of potential acquisition targets.I am also collaborated with Microsoft on the SQL Server 2014 TAP program, working to migrate 3 internal applications to use SQL Server 2014 features such as In- Memory OLTP and native compiled stored procedures. This has led to an overall 30x performance increase, allowing us to reduce licensing and hardware costs for several key applications.I also led work on a project to explore reducing costs and increase speed to market by utilizing open source (Apache 2.0) software such as Hadoop (HDInsight), Tika, Solr and Cassandra, in both a hybrid and public cloud deployment. I managed a team of 10 DBAs in a very large, extremely fast paced environment.
