Captain Don Davis calls Vancouver, Canada home and is presently an External Consultant, Flight Operations with Air Canada conducting B737MAX pilot training. He recently completed terms with CAE Parc in Seoul, Korea and the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department as Senior Operations Inspector. Don retired from Air Canada as a Boeing 777 AQP Evaluator and subsequently flew as a Captain with both Ethiopian Airlines and Jet Airways. Don also held that authority on Airbus 320 / 330 / 340.Having received his “wings” with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1972, Captain Davis served as Pilot and Flight Safety Officer with 400 Air Reserve Squadron, Mobile Command in Toronto. After six years on the DC-8, Don became a Second Officer Instructor and First Officer on the DC-10 aircraft with CP Air. In 1986, he attained his first Captaincy on the B-737 aircraft and two years later was appointed to Instructor/Check Captain and subsequently Manager Flying, B-737 and Base Chief Pilot B-737. In 1991, he was nominated by the Air Transport Industry to the position of Policy Advisor, Air Transportation with Transport Canada. This assignment was a secondment from Canadian Airlines International under the Prime Minister’s Business / Government Executive Exchange Program. Don resided in Ottawa, Canada and became Special Assistant to the Director General of Aviation Regulation. While in that position, he participated in regulatory changes, initiated a Levels of Service Working Group for the Director General and was the Industry Team Leader in the Air Carrier Inspection Task Force, ultimately redefining the role of Airline Inspection in the Aviation Regulation Department. Captain Davis also completed training for the position of Air Carrier Inspector. In 1993, Don returned to line flying duties and relocated to Vancouver flying the DC-10 and subsequently the B-747-400 on both the Atlantic and Pacific theater of operations. In January of 2000, Captain Davis while on leave of absence from Canadian Airlines assumed the role of Program Manager B-737 NG for Alteon (formerly Flight Safety Boeing) in Seoul, Korea. He co-managed the redesign of training programs at Korean Air and managed the introduction of this new aircraft to their fleet. With extensive worldwide experience in both wide and narrow body aircraft, Don has a diversified level of experience in Flight Operations and exudes a pragmatic management style with above average communication skills. He carries licenses in Canada, United States, Korea, with Air Transport validations in Ethiopia and India.
