SonarSource is the company behind SonarQube, the leading open source solution to automatically measure and track code quality and security.Following my first attempt at entrepreneurship, I was lucky to be called back by the co-founders to lead a new innovation/scientist team.My main challenge was to find the right way for the company to enter the Static Application Security Testing ("SAST") market to accelerate its growth.I helped the company restructure itself from siloed one-team-per-language organization to one that would welcome the idea of a powerful language-agnostic security analysis engine.In parallel, I strengthened university collaborations to get access to world-class experts in static analysis to grow the team.

My vision with BTBMaker was to automate the picking of strawberries for industrial growers based in Huelva (Spain, ~6000 hectares) and California (USA, ~16'000 hectares). This task is currently carried out by dozens of thousands migrant workers, mostly women temporarily leaving their family to earn a living.I wore many hats ranging from establishing connections with growers to fine-tuning neural networks to detect ripe strawberries, which gave me the opportunity to meet with many specialists in all kinds of areas such as Soft Robotics, Artificial Intelligence or Rapid Prototyping.Sadly, it became clear during the development that human workers would likely remain the more cost-effective solution for the foreseeable future, making the venture a dead end.In retrospect, a better strategy might have been to first target premium indoor urban growers with year-round production.
