As co-founder & Director of Theorise Ltd, I am responsible for a number of tasks including managing our key relationships with our college & university clients across Scotland and all our engaged candidates, the sourcing and recruitment of support staff, and their placement to assist students with SpLDs in their academic progression. This role has required me to take on a number of project management tasks with strict time constraints to be met to ensure that our college & university clients are afforded a first class service and their students receive the support they require in a timely manner.Communication and organisation skills are critical as well as the ability to manage and organise our external education support staff who work with students with specific learning difficulties. The creation and implementation of a thorough and detailed recruitment process is a key part of my role to ensure the highest quality candidates are sourced often with bespoke processes for each college & university and the numerous roles that we provide from Study Skills Tutoring, Mental Health Mentoring, Support Work, Proof Reading and Note Taking.Due to the volume of students that we work with (over 2200 in 23/24 academic year) and the number of support workers (currently over 250) excellent organisation, communication skills and project management is essential in this role in order to ensure every student is placed with a high quality member of our support staff regardless of the role they are involved in.

This position required me to carry out a wide variety of tasks based upon the needs of our clients across Scotland. I was bound to a number of organisational and administrative tasks and processes which were essential for the company’s functionality on a weekly basis. I was responsible for dealing with our clients based in the education sector that required me to communicate effectively with clients, manage our education support staff as well as advertise and interview new prospective candidates through managing an effective recruitment process whereby I would advertise vacancies, screen, interview and assess potential candidates suitable for the specifics of each client. Due to the volume of students that we worked with and the number of support workers I managed organisation and project management skills were essential in this role in order to ensure every student was placed with a member of our support staff be they Study Skills Tutors, Mental Health Mentors, Note Takers or Proof Readers whom have the ability to assist the students educational needs. In the final academic year there, I was responsible for the coordination of support to over 450 students across Scotland primarily in Edinburgh and the management of 50 support workers.Each client we had was offered a bespoke service and therefore it was vital to have the ability to be flexible in my approach to work to ensure all clients’ needs and demands are adhered to.Furthermore, I was responsible for the management and design of the company’s social media platforms and the posting of job advertisements and the design of their website.

Stirling

In this role, I was responsible for creating and conducting tailored training sessions for children of all ages and abilities in schools across the Stirling district. Working in this environment requires a great deal of forward planning to ensure that sessions are fun but also beneficial in terms of improving the skills of the participants. Health and safety checks and registration of children at each venue are also prerequisite in this job. Effective communication and organisation skills are vital to succeed on a weekly basis.

Having initially started out in this job in a voluntary position to gain experience by assisting fellow coaches in the setting up of equipment and observing their sessions, I grew into the role and was offered paid work with Hearts' community branch, Big Hearts, and my number of responsibilities increased. In this position, there was a great emphasis on teamwork and working with fellow staff to create the best learning environment possible for the participants.Alongside my role as a community coach with Big Hearts, I also worked with the club in the organisation of their match day experience. The duties in this post included a great deal of time management and organisation to ensure its smooth operation on home match days. In this position I was responsible for a number of varying roles on a weekly basis from carrying out training sessions, setting up equipment & required to assist in getting the children onto the pitch at half time for their Matchday Experience.
