Regional Incident Management Engineer
CurrentOversees daily operations of Incident Management Assistance Patrol (IMAP) for all eleven counties within the Region. Facilitates and participates in Inter-Agency Team Meetings. Responds to interstate and freeway incidents to minimize impact of incident on traffic. Responsible for traveler information components as needed and supervising portable message board deployment. Coordinates with emergency response and other agencies for pre-planning traffic management for special events and major roadwork. Responsible for gathering information about planned and unplanned highway incidents and roadwork in order that media releases can be distributed. Responsible for operation and maintenance of ITS equipment at the TMC, as well as locate fiber in the region Supervises Transportation Supervisors and Transportation Workers – IMAP drivers. Organizational link between the establishment of incident management policies and procedures and the management of the Incident Management Section. Responsible for leading IM programs and initiatives in coordination and/or collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders. Utilize progressive transportation engineering experience to develop and initiate novel and unique engineering solutions in relation to the NCDOT Incident Management program. Coordinate with other NCDOT units, the Federal Highway Administration, NC Emergency Management, county emergency management officials, local municipality representatives, area emergency agencies (i.e., law enforcement, fire departments, rescue units, etc.), utility companies and local groups to incorporate pertinent design information and public concerns into incident management planning and operations.
