Senior Mechanical Engineer
For Husky Energy’s West White Rose Project - Concrete Gravity Substructure (CGS):Primarily responsible for the design, analysis, and package engineering management of CGS mechanical systems. Performed pipe stress, flow, and surge analysis to ASME B31.3 and the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes (BPVC) using CAESAR II, AFT Fathom, and hand calculations. Was the package engineering manager for the submersible pumps, ROV operable seawater plugs, manways, and subsea rated manual / electrically actuated ROV operable valves. Reviewed welding procedures and details for low temperature carbon steelwork and pipework. Evaluated ballasting sequences by integrating a Python scripted pipe flow model with a DNVGL Sesam HydroD hydrodynamic model of the CGS. Sized submersible pumps to API/ANSI/HI/ISO, fans to API, and subsea control valves to ISA. Analyzed: through concrete leakage rates, buoyancy-driven seawater circulation rates, erosive wear on pipework, pipework corrosion mechanisms and rates, dropped object impact loads, environmental and statistical data. Prepared and authenticated (stamped) design bases, calculations, specifications, datasheets, plans, procedures, and reports for the CGS mechanical systems. Reviewed, authenticated (stamped), and directed the drafting team in the production of; mechanical drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams. Required extensive use of Navisworks 3D model review software. Contributed to project risk assessments and uses OREDA data to perform fault tree analyses for CGS mechanical systems. In cooperation with the client and construction contractor; addressed site technical queries, vendor queries, and technical non-conformances. Mentored and led junior engineering staff.For the Hamina LNG Terminal in Hamina Finland:Designed LNG storage tank cryogenic pipework to ASME B31.3. Performed pipe stress analysis with CAESAR II. Directed and mentored junior engineers in piping design.Advised on Arup Energy projects as required.
