Software Engineering Team LeadNet Health Mar 2023 - Nov 2024Pittsburgh, Pa, UsCurrently, I am the team lead of the direct billing team for the Net Health Therapy for SNFs product, working with an agile scrum team to develop and maintain one of the most complex pieces of our system. The flagship product for our team, RCM (revenue cycle management), deals with all aspects of billing, claim creation, adjudication and payment processing, and customer invoicing as it relates to the healthcare industry. This product relies heavily on knowledge relating to healthcare and insurance claims processing, as well as HIPPA and other government regulations. We provide services for over 95% of all SNFs in the United States and are responsible for maintaining and securing huge volumes of clinical and billing data for these customers. Our product is deeply integrated with third party clearinghouse systems for patient insurance eligibility verifications, electronic claim submission and electronic payer payments. -
Software Engineer IiiNet Health Dec 2016 - Mar 2023Pittsburgh, Pa, UsI was originally hired by Optima Healthcare Solutions who was later acquired by Net Health. My initial project was working on customizing and localizing the post-acute rehabilitation software suite for use in the emerging Chinese public healthcare space. I was responsible for translating and localizing various aspects of the applications (both WinForms and offline/disconnected web-based) for use by both English and Chinese speaking users, as well as customizing the workflows and features to more closely align with the very different regulations and requirements of the Chinese government. Additionally I created and maintained a Chinese-specific set of clinical documentation libraries for use in our system. I also created APIs for data exchange from our system to third parties and integrated third party APIs into our system to sync information from hospital information systems. This project was complex due to having to satisfy both U.S. and Chinese regulations regarding the storing and transmission of sensitive healthcare information, and required a great deal of coordination with offshore teams. After this project was terminated, I transitioned to the direct billing team. I was exposed to a similar (though vastly different) branch of the same code I had been working on for years that had undergone a completely separate evolution. I had to quickly come up to speed on the billing and insurance claim processes used in the U.S. and get hands on experience with the asynchronous processes that drove our entire workflow. I was responsible for maintaining and adding features to the existing platforms, including projects to implement features that closed functionality gaps between our software and that of our largest competitor after its acquisition by Net Health, and integrating our billing systems with that of external services that provide electronic claim and payment information. -
Staff DeveloperAthenahealth Jun 2015 - Dec 2016Boston, Massachusetts, UsAs a staff developer, I was one of three stateside developers that managed the datawarehouse feed project. This product provides automated extracts and transformation of data from our Oracle database to clients, while respecting and ensuring the integrity of PHI. As part of this team I assisted in architecting platform changes to allow the current product to scale; these changes included piloting a map-reduce style framework to increase the performance of these multi-terabyte database extractions, decreasing execution times by up to 60% for over 11 million queries per month. As a member of the scrum development team I coordinated with offshore development and QA teams cross-globe in Chennai. I was also responsible for maintaining an entity relationship diagram that outlines the relationships of the exported data tables. -
