Department of Radiation Hot Lab Operations-Responsible for assisting in source management by maintaining proper receipt of materials (inspection, discrepancy, documentation, location, and traceability) in the Hot Lab Section. * Highlights of my qualifications and experience include: -Receive, inspect and inventory various radioactive material shipments, including Type B, Type A, and limited quantity packages -Set up and perform dosimetry for irradiation studies for nuclear plant components, using cobalt-60 sources -Take wipe samples on sealed sources used for irradiation studies -Assist with the unloading, consolidating, and packing of sealed sources for disposal for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Off-Site Source Recovery Project -Collect and prepare shipping of radioactive wastes generated at SwRI -Maintain the update of all calibrated instruments within the Hot Lab for project work.

Department of Environmental & Demilitarization Technology section of the Environmental Chemistry and Engineering Department- Conduct various projects for U.S. military, government and subsidiaries, as well as private companies and corporations - Conduct testing and record and manage data for Depot Area Air Monitoring System (DAAMS) tubes tests (used for historical monitoring and surveillance at worldwide military chemical weapons storage sites, surety labs, research laboratories and NATO military theaters)-Conducted testing and record and manage for Agent Defeat Project on Nerve and Blister Gases introduced in a temperature control chamber- Run various samples using gas chromatography (used in analytic chemistry for separating and analyzing compounds that can be vaporized without decomposition, thereby testing purity)- Alternate key inventory officer and decontamination personnel during chemical operations- Maintain operations spreadsheets, calibrate instruments, reckon inventory and analyze data for ongoing projects

Department of Environmental Chemistry and Engineering -Performed various methods of organic extractions/preparations for water, soil, fruit, and vegetable samples for traces of pesticides for food crop samples, base neutral acids (BNAs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and pesticide and dioxin samples. -Extensive experience in the disposal, organization, and data input of spent chemical hazardous waste. SwRI has policies on all spent chemicals which follow strict guidelines in order to have an outside disposal service company remove all spent chemical waste per the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). -For the Washington Demilitarization Company (WDC) Comprehensive Monitoring Program (CMP) quarterly project, Mr. Copeland was knowledgeable in various extraction methods such as gender classification, homogenization/dissection of mice (mammals), neutral dust, neutral soybean, herbicides from sieved house dust, poly nuclear aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH), PUF by Extraction Method (Method 8330), and preparation of samples for nitro aromatics and nitro amines analysis by HPLC and neutral and acid dust extraction and cleanup
