Participated on the “Customer Systems Team” as an application programmer. Functions included the assessment and redesign of existing programs, as well as system design and development for new business needs. Applications were developed under the MVS/ESA operating system utilizing either the TSO environment or the CICS on-line environment on an IBM System 370. Programming languages utilized were VS COBOL II, FOCUS, and the APS code generation tools. Many of the new applications that were implemented utilized IBM DB2; notably, the Customer Information File (CIF) application/system. The CIF supports customer review and administrative function by maintaining customer and account relationship information.

Designed and developed an inventory tape management system to administer software tapes/cassettes containing various mainframe based software packages. Project involved the analysis of an existing FORTRAN-based system that utilized IBM SQL/DS under VM/XA. After analyzing the existing system, a new data access and inventory architecture was conceived and designed to run under MVS/XA using VS COBOL II utilizing IBM DB2 within the TSO/ISPF environment. Special consideration was taken to ensure end-user ease of use: intuitive menus, ergonomic screen layouts, and a robust error/exception handling service.
