The National Grid, UK, GDFO Project has added functionality to all the Gas Emergency, Repair, Maintain & Construct Business Processes to the existing SAP back office system and added Syclo mobile devices and ESRI mapping. The field Engineers now having details of Work Orders, Maps and data collection at their finger tips. All the functionality and data is now live and the work force is in the process of changing over to the new business processes.Data Migration Key figures: 5TB of data, 250 objects, 100 interfaces, 5,000 field users, 100 Million records into the live SAP environment. A similar number of records were also loaded into ESRI.Contract position duration 12 months, reporting directly to the IS Data Migration Team Lead with WIPRO responsible for the Data Migration extract, transform and load activities. National Grid was responsible for Gap File delivery, pre & post load audits plus Z table data loads. I was responsible for managing the overall Data Migration Conversion Plans for both Release 2 and Release 3 by coordinating handoffs between; legacy refreshes, gap file delivery, pre load audit, transformation, data load (SAP & ESRI), Z table load and post load audit. I monitored and reported on deviations from the plan and put in place (or recommended) corrective actions. I optimised the detailed MS Project plan by taking into account; contingency planning, legacy extracts, interface impacts, live environment migration together with detailed outage & Cutover Planning. I managed the data migration plan during the Mock 1, Mock 2, Dress Rehearsal 1, Dress Rehearsal 2, Cutover Simulation and Cutover conversions. For Release 3 there were a total of 850 data migration tasks with 3 weeks activities prior to technical cutover, followed by 3 weeks data migration into the live environment. Data migration (and Cutover) was completed on plan with no issues attributable to data migration. I deputised for the IS data Migration Lead in his absence.
