The reasons that we have so many families in our area that have lost their homes or are in jeopardy of becoming homeless are many bu tall have at their core a financial challenge. A drive through many DC area middle class neighborhoods revealed homes that are either vacant or very poorly maintained indicating where that loss exists or is imminent. This is a destructive personal and social tragedy that can be vastly altered with a grass roots solution. Waiting until one is in semi-retirement to start on a path to help correct social problems was not the plan however if done with a well formed idea and great partners can create a sustainable solution extending well into years to come. Educating at risk families as to what changes will make a big difference in their situation and providing resources to accomplish those changes can certainly bring about a desired outcome for both personal and our community’s futures. In my youth, I didn't know much about homelessness but today it is hard not to see and hear about the suffering many families are experiencing, leading up to and after losing their homes. Having spent the majority of my adult life building, remodeling and repairing our area homes I am focusing that experience on creating a solution to this major problem.Creating a charitable network of extremely talented home service specialists in their respective trades to serve DC area homeownersand offer them consumer benefits that have been lacking in our industry.
