As a co-founder I was responsible for relations with publishers and supporting investor relations to arrange a seed funding. Due to different visions, team broke up and all but one left the project.

Business.hr is a leading Croatian business daily, established in 2005 as business weekly and switching to a daily in 2008. By end of 2008, Swedish publisher Bonnier decided to sell off Croatian newspaper faced with major debts generated in five years. After a detailed due diligence, together with my partners I took share in 35% of the company the rest being acquired by a strategic investor.Primary challenge was to stabilize financial position of the company and later to improve productivity and increase revenues.Within the first few months I led the major financial restructuring effort to cut costs by decreasing cost of labor, relocating the office, implementing changes in sourcing paper, arrangement with printing company and changing distribution partner.Additionally we made significant efforts to launch new products and initiatives to increase revenues, which faced hard challenges due to major impact of financial crisis in Croatia and general changes in publishing dynamics that resulted in lower advertising revenues.After one year we decided to sell our stakes to a strategic investor. The company at the time was generating minor operational loss compared to the take-over moment showing that cost restructuring was implemented well.
