I work across multiple SCM systems to provide automated solutions to product teams.I help my teams embrace more mature release processes, bringing the good stuff--reliability, repeatability, auditability--to their processes.I automated the production kernel release process, giving the kernel team the ability to go from infrequent, manually-intensive releases--that ran on someone's desktop and took more than a month--to releases at any time at the push of a button.I worked with the VR/AR teams, bringing coherence, clarity, and manageability to all of their 'scrappy' workflows, setting up standard automated workflows, processes, and documentation to enable self-service, enabling our small team to scale to a large number of efforts.

I'm the tools department at this startup. I handle SCM, bug tracking, build automation, various web sites, our wiki, and a large suite of developer-written tests, which I wrote the infrastructure for, and which I triage. In addition, I've written tools to interface all of these together, including a tool that automatically collects information every week from Salesforce and our bug tracking system and incorporates it into a google docs spreadsheet for Google. I'm working on enhancing our performance tracking website, which is written in python/Django. I make my bosses look good, and keep them happy, including the CTO and founder of the company.

I was involved in business-wide efforts, including one to replace our defect tracking system and one to improve security across our systems and network, while still retaining all Engineer V responsibilities. As part of HP's efforts to increase their IP, I did write-ups on several ideas similar to Google goggles. One made it as far as defensive publication, but they decided that it wasn't part of their core business.

I was involved in a broad range of source integration and Configuration Management activities. I specified and enforced standards for Makefiles and other build policies, as well as tools and processes for cross-platform work. I automated our integration tasks, including nightly software builds: I also monitored those builds and triaged failures. I wrote, edit, and reviewed Makefiles, and participated in branch and release planning. I supported, consulted, and trained software developers using ClearCase worldwide; I went to NCR to help them with our source code product. I was the project lead and senior engineer, and I oversaw the project in my manager's absence. I worked on CMM policies for SCM, and was a peer review moderator, as well as a mentor to less senior engineers. I designed web sites to provide real-time status and defect information, as well as documentation and support sites for our section. Finally, I also did some linux unix and windows system administration.

My primary responsibility was device drivers: I developed lan, tty and PCMCIA drivers for real-time Unix; worked on graphics and centronics drivers, as well as other parts of the system. I was responsible for the acquisition, development and maintenance of the tools our group used, both software and hardware. I was responsible for ClearCase tools, policy and development, and I moderated code reviews.

I was responsible for CPE on HP's commercial OS, mostly in the startup, shutdown, and configuration code. I developed a "Source Vault" configuration management system. I supported Unix workstations and represented our section in the area of productivity tools.
