Working in the Electrical Energy Management team, part of Electrical Engineering. Responsibilities include:- Analysing the work performed by engineers within the department alongside interactions with other teams, and finding solutions to issues identified.- Continual process improvement.- Development of solutions to engineering problems relating to energy management, e.g. an on-vehicle technology to diagnose the cause of unexpected battery drain.- Interfacing with the system strategy team, to ensure potential efficiency solutions are included in company strategy.- Managing the relationship between Energy Management and the Research department, ensuring that Research projects are geared towards the department and industry's needs, and that the department incorportaes Research's findings into its work and strategy.- Leading an Energy Saving Working Group, focusing on analysing potential energy-saving ideas with management and technical specialists, and managing a graduate working group.

During my graduate scheme I spent roughly 2/3 of my time in the Electrical Energy Management team, and 1/3 rotating through placements within the company, in order to develop as a well-rounded engineer. Within the EEM team I was primarily responsible for testing and analysis of vehicle efficiency and power consumption, as well as work on electrical architectures of vehicles and a focus on minimising quiescent current loss. A large project I worked on involved me simulating a new type of electrical machine, for novel use in the automotive sector. This resulted in patents being filed and a personal reward from the company for my work.Spent a year leading a graduate taskforce dedicated to energy management. Acted as an ambassador for the university to prospective students and their families. Here I represented the department, university, Physics and science as a whole towards those interested in pursuing a future in the field.I was trusted as a public face of the department, and trusted with organising visitors (including those with medical requirements) and staff. I engaged in a passionate manner to appeal to audiences of various ages and to convince them of the benefits of attending York, both academically and beyond.

Customer-focus driven sales work with a heavy emphasis on acting as a team, as well as stock management. Developed and took advantage of a strong knowledge of all product lines to create sales and provide a greater customer service. In this role I developed strong interpersonal skills and an ability to influence others in a friendly and professional manner.

Weekend and holiday position whilst studying. Work involved handling money, tracking stock, working as a team and constant customer interaction. After a year in the role I was tasked with running the electronics and stationary department of the store for 18 months. In this role I was fully responsible for stocking, product placement, and staff members within this department during my shifts. I was further trusted with staff training.
