For more than 25 years, I have helped strengthen and protect brand reputations for corporations, public officials and nonprofits by delivering product marketing and crisis communications expertise. Working across top industries, from the United States Congress and presidential campaigns to a cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology startup, I am motivated by finding impactful solutions to difficult problems.I have deep experience as a marketing and communications professional who delivers results with a proud history of managing and mentoring high performance teams. While at DataRobot, an artificial intelligence (AI) software company with customers that include 80% of the top US banks, 40% of the top global banks, as well as 70% of the top pharmaceutical companies, I led the marketing team responsible for planning, building and launching two inaugural go-to-market and product marketing initiatives. These tier-1 company initiatives resulted in the creation of AI Cloud for Industries, which tailored the company's AI Cloud platform capabilities to the needs of regulated industries and corporations in financial services, healthcare, retail and manufacturing. My team also created Account Based Marketing (ABM) for financial services, which focused on Model-Risk-Management, a high-risk, high-reward use case within a highly regulated environment. To scratch an entrepreneurial itch, I launched and operated Downey Communications, a public affairs practice where I advised corporate and nonprofit clients to better align their communications and marketing strategies to meet business goals and better navigate challenges to their brand. I also specialized in helping clients navigate crisis communications for optimal results. While in the political arena, in addition to working for several presidential campaigns, I had the distinct honor to work in the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. These unique experiences allowed me the opportunity to successfully develop, launch and execute strategic and tactical communication plans for some of America’s top public officials.Although a midwesterner at heart, I find balance by working on projects on my farm on the Shenandoah River in Virginia, where I live with my wife and two dogs.
