Sr. Software EngineerQualcomm Jun 2009 - Sep 2010San Diego, Ca, UsSymbian BSP TestingJune 2009 – April 2010Costumer: Qualcomm/NokiaSummary:This project aims at integrating Symbian OS with three different Qualcomm microprocessors. To reach this goal, Qualcomm developed the Symbian device drivers and plugins for each of their processors. All device drivers and middleware were tested on Nokia prototype phones and Qualcomm development boards.Activities Executed UART and HS-UART tests on Qualcomm SURF development boards with different baud rates, data bits and stop bits. Executed USB enumeration tests, USB Chapter 9, manual file transfers, Nokia PC Suite connectivity and mass storage tests on Qualcomm SURF and Nokia prototype phones. Performed manual tests for touch screen device driver. Executed automated hardware resource manager (HWRM) tests for phone vibration and keypad backlight. Performed white-box tests and debugged vibration device driver using JTAG and TRACE32 application. Executed automated and manual tests on SD/MMC card device drivers. Test cases included read/write, file operations, card detection, etc. Worked with SD card driver developer to debug issues that were causing crashes. Executed manual tests for keypad device driver on Qualcomm SURF and Nokia prototype phones. Executed SVS (Symbian Verification Suite) tests for file system. This suite includes validation, conformance and performance tests for FAT32 and FAT16 file systems. Manual headset detection tests. Determined the proper configuration of the SALT and SVS (Symbian Verification Suite) tests for Qualcomm's hardware and modified ini configuration files. Maintained test automation scripts in Symbian proprietary language and in XML for Testdriver. Reported issues/bugs through bug tracking tool. Set breakpoints in device driver source code and debug using JTAG if a bug was found in such driver. This way, more detailed information was given to the developer. Collected test execution logs. Verified bug fixes. -
Embedded Software EngineerDextra Technologies Jan 2008 - Jun 2009Monterrey, Nuevo León, MxActivities I participated in SALT project as a Software Engineer in the migration of test cases from Nokia's test framework (STIF) to Symbian's Test Execution Framework (TEF). Participated in the development of the accessories, data transfer, hardware resource manager (HWRM), display, devsound and usb modules. The porting from STIF to TEF required the adaptation of the test code to comply with Symbian's code, test tagging and configurability standards. Worked with testdriver, an automation engine used to build, package and run a series of Symbian OS tests on a connected Symbian OS device or on an emulator. It runs test scripts, writes logs to the communication channel through a tool called STAT and produces a report indicating the success or failure of the test.I gave support to some of the newer team members; explained the process we were following to port the test cases, how TEF works and the coding standards.Technologies used in this project: Symbian Test Execution Framework (TEF)Excel VB macros to generate script and configuration files automatically.TestDriver Accessories server, accessory connection, sockets, telephony server, mobile line, hardware resource manager, etc.ROM image generation and device flashing.Attended to Symbian offices in London, UK for code revision and standards verification. -
