In addition to weekly training sessions, I completed First Aid, CPR, and Emergency Medical Technician certifications. I have completed Driver/Engineer 1A and 1B, and I have completed training in Mass Casualty Incidents. Completion of Command 1C (40 hour course on Command and Leadership) for out of county wild land fire responses. In emergency and medical patient care situations, I have worked closely with seniors to calm, reassure, and respond to their specific medical and routine needs during these situations. I served as President of the Fire Fighter Association for 4 years. As Association President, I was responsible for coordinating with the Fire Chief and Board of Directors on budgeting projects such as community events, and fire prevention presentations. In addition, I spear headed all association events and fundraisers, such as our annual Fatherʼs Day Pancake Breakfast, our annual flea market, our Halloween haunted house for children in our rural community. I initiated and drafted the district’s first successful grant proposals. Those initial efforts have led the way for the Zayante Fire District to successfully seek grant funding, which have increasingly added much needed equipment and training for this small district.
